lesser new york presents New York art activities from the past four years made not necessarily as pieces nor to be sold. These are some items that may have fallen through the cracks, making the system less obvious. It is work, which may not be defined as work and which sometimes leaves no trace behind - Invisible New York. Not all participants call themselves artists and some artists may appear in the role of a teacher, curator, writer...though all have had an active role in the debate. The format of the installation corresponds to the distribution-quality of the material, items are repeated to avoid a precious original artifact quality. It works somewhat like a communist wallpaper and a totalitarian seductive Rorsach image - formalist of course. A pamphlet will be available that points into the future, beyond this particular instance, since everything on display are items from the past. This terrain is hard to map since these activities have no clear name or commercial validity, it is lesser. Sometimes less is more, more or less.
